Neighborhood Business Assistance

The Neighborhood Business Specialists Program is an economic development partnership between the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Grand Rapids, and the Neighborhood Business Alliance.

Created in 1989, the mission of the NBSP is to ensure the economic health of Grand Rapids by promoting and preserving its neighborhood business districts by facilitating, advocating and serving as a catalyst for economic development.

By improving the business climate in these neighborhood business districts, the NBSP helps business owners protect their investment in their area. The NBSP provides assistance in a variety of areas, from recruitment of new businesses, and marketing of area businesses, to streetscaping, beautification and addition of parking. NBSP also lends assistance in the areas of preservation of older buildings, public safety, zoning laws and variances, and strategic planning issues.

By providing an atmosphere that will encourage the success of current businesses and expansion of new businesses, the Neighborhood Business Specialist Program provides business assistance, neighborhood by neighborhood.
