Foremost's Butterflies are Blooming exhibit is the largest seasonal butterfly exhibit in the United States. Over a period of eight weeks, hundreds of tropical butterflies flit and flutter in the tropical habitat of The Lena Meijer Conservatory at the Frederik Meijer Gardens.

THE LENA MEIJER CONSERVATORY
Standing five stories high, the 15,000-square-foot Lena Meijer Conservatory is the largest glass conservatory in Michigan. This exotic oasis features tropical plants from around the world, including bamboo, palms, a large collection of elephant ears, acacias, huge traveler's trees, the triangle palm, and an ever-changing display of the Fredrik Meijer Garden's 2,000-plant orchid collection.

AN INDOOR RAINFOREST
Foremost's "Butterflies Are Blooming" features numerous varieties of tropical butterflies native to the rainforest habitats of Central America. The Lena Meijer Conservatory provides ideal levels of heat and humidity for butterflies to thrive. And because there are no natural predators present, our tropical guests can live their full lifespan in comfort.

THE BUTTERFLY BUNGALOW
All butterflies arrive from a Central American butterfly farm as chrysalis and housed in the "Butterfly Bungalow" where in a few days they transform into butterflies. Once released, they're free to fly about the Conservatory, stopping at one of the many feeding stations for a drop of nectar.

Monarch butterflies avoid the lethal cold of the northern winters by flying south.

Do you migrate south for the winter? Foremost's specialized insurance programs for motorhomes, and travel trailers give you peace of mind when you're on the road.
